Taylor Trapp Dance Solo

I enjoyed watching Jasmine's solo because she had the same quote as I did, but our dances were very different. Her solo had no music, which I thought worked very well with her piece. It made the audience focus more on the concept and movements of the dance instead of the music. I'm not sure if Jasmine chose a specific costume or not. There was not much movement within her dance. She tended to stay in one area. Jasmine did a lot of floor work. She repeatedly went to the ground, which was good for level changes. I could very see how she integrated her quote, which is about love, into her dance. There were many soft and flowy movements, which I think represented love. There were also several sharp movements, which constrasted her theme. I think Jasmine's choreography was very well planned out and performed. There were a couple of movements that were repeated several times. At some moments her dance was rushed, but overall it was very well done and I really liked it.

I thought my choreography was really good overall, but I was not too happy with my performance. I did not know my dance as well as I should have, which hindered me from dancing to my fullest ability. I could have performed my dance bigger and with more power, and I could have expressed more emotion. My quote was a bible verse about love. It described love for what it is and is not: it's good and not bad. I think I incorporated this theme into my dance a lot. I used soft moves to show love and I used hard moves in contrast to show what love is not. I repeated several movements throughout the piece. I also used the same movements to express love and what love is not by changing them either from soft to hard, or from hard to soft. I used levels and floor space several times. I also used my space very well throughout the dance. My song was from the movie where I got the quote from and it was also a soft, happy song, which shows my theme of loe. I wore a red tank-top because red symbolizes love. I think I choreographed with the use of my text very well, but I could have overall performed it better.
