My Solo:
Overall, I was pleased with how my solo turned out. I thought that my moves portrayed my concept well. It demonstrated, in different ways, certain aspects pulling me down. I tried to make the "high" and happy moments of life have more flowy movements, while the time when temptation to give up set in had sharper movements. I thought the contrast between my beginning and end was good as well. I started on the ground, demonstrating how at first I just wanted to give up but then at the end I was standing tall ready to face fears. I also thought that I had many level changes because I used the floor a lot in my piece. While I was watching my piece, I wish that I had put more energy into it. It looks like I was marking it in some spots. For example, I should have made head rolls bigger and sharp moves sharper. But, overall, I was happy with how it looked.
Melissa's Solo:
I thought that Melissa used her quote really well. At certain points her moves were based off of what the quote was saying and it was very effective. I liked her music and how it had text incorperated into it. It made the music interesting to listen to. Melissa used the accents in her music well, and it made a contrast between flowing and sharper movements. The development of her piece was really good because there was a feeling of rise and fall which kept the piece moving and was interesting to watch. Melissa didn't costume her piece, and although it was great without it, I thought it might have been cool to see how the costume would add to the dance. Also, there were times in the piece where she could have committed more to the movement and been more full out. But, I thought her piece was excellent and used her quote really well.
