Partner Critique

I critiqued Amanda's solo. I thought that her message was very clear of how she was trying ot reach for her goal. She showed this by starting at one side of the room and slowly getting closer to the other side of the room (her goal) throughout the dance. I felt this was a very affective and clear was to show her concept and represent her piece of literature. Her movements perfectly portrayed her concept; it was clear to see that there was some struggle as well as some fear. But in the end, she reached her goal despite of the struggle to get there. I felt that the quality of her movement was for the most part smooth, but sort of choppy at some points. I think a consistency in the quality may have helped a little bit. Her song choice, I thought, complimented the movement and the concept very well; it was a very good song choice. She was able to utilize the music clearly which helped to further show her concept. When Amanda finally reached her goal towards the end, there was a climatic moment in which she sort of celebrated her truimph. This helped to emphasize that one should keep trying because it pays off. I loved her idea of going from one side of the room to the other; however, even though she was moving to the other side of the room, I felt that there were some points where she was sort of dancing underneath herself. By just making her movements a little bigger, it would be helpful to notice the change of attitude throughout the dance. Overall, I felt that Amanda did a great job and that all aspects of her dance worked very well together!!
