Partner Critique

I critiqued Jenna's piece, and overall I thought she did an amazing job. Her movement and the text utilized the concept of the piece. The concept of pulling away from love was clearly demonstrated throughout the piece. The shift of realizing the problem was inner-conflict was also clearly shown, especially by the smaller movements on the ground. I thought the movement was extremely sophisticated. Jenna used some basic movements, but made them creative and twisted them which made it interesting to watch. I think the style of the movement shifting throughout the piece appropriately for the music. In the beginning the moves were very distinct and large, and towards the end the movement became smaller and more self-expressed. The imagery of the dance was amazing. My favorite move was the "chicken" move. It was small, yet noticeable and really connected with the dance. The music and the text read over it really enhanced the dance, and made it enjoyable to watch. The movement went with the dance, but didn't seem like Jenna created the dance only to the words. The edited music really worked for me, and added to the layers of complexity to the dance. I think the piece had a strong beginning and end, but the middle was unclear because I couldn't pick out a key moment which was the climax. However, I think the journey from the beginning to end was very smooth and elegant. The piece had many different facings, and levels which made it very sophisticated and enjoyable to watch. The basic concept enhanced the piece and didn't distract the audience. Jenna used her space really well! I loved the dance and Jenna did an amazing job :)
