Solo Critique

I thought my solo had a clear concept, and the text spoken in the background really enhanced the meaning of the dance and the concept of being pulled in different directions but having to choose the path you really want. I think my movement really went with the flowyness of the music which also better represented my concept. I think the movement could've been more sophisticated and could've been shown better if I had a more distinct floor pattern and traveled more. I think the pattern of my movement was distinct but could've been better shown if my energy was higher. The switch in the mood of my piece wasn't shown as well as I wanted it to be, but I think the shift was still noticable. The music I chose really went well with my piece because it was a simple piano part, then added flute, then my added text. I think the layers and development of the song added to the development of my piece without over powering it. My music was edited however there was a weird moment when it was kind of choppy. My piece used many different facings, and levels, but not as much floor patterns. I think this made the dance kind of boring, and it wasn't at the extreme level where I wanted it to be. My costume was a basic white t-shirt and black shorts which represented the purity of someone not exactly knowing what they want to do. I think that was shown well and didn't distract the audience or make it harder for me to move it. My energy could've been higher, and I think my technique was better than my execution of the movement, but over all I think I had a strong beginning, middle, and end, and I demonstrated my theme well.
